FAQ

Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga

  • I'm interested in taking a SUP yoga class, what do I need to prepare?

It’s recommended you wear shorts or leggings (if you are concerned about too much sun exposure). You can also wear a rash guard, a bikini or yoga top. You can also wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses as a precaution.

  • Do I need equipment for a SUP yoga class?

The class fee includes equipment rental such as the board and paddle.

  • Do I need to have experience in Stand Up Paddelboarding or Yoga to take a SUP yoga class?

Not at all! The SUP yoga class is open level and catered towards the students that are there. We also go over paddle boarding basics in a micro class before the yoga class.

  • What is yoga on a paddelboard like?

Practicing on a paddleboard is a very unique experience. It requires patience and is a great way to engage your core. You can expect a slow flow/ hatha style of yoga rather than flow practice.

Misc

  • What other types of experiences do you offer in a private setting?

I offer sound meditations, group and private reiki, guided meditations and pranayama.

  • I have an injury, can I still practice yoga?

You can always share your injuries with me before hand and I’ll consider this when sequencing your class and experience. You can always make specific requests. If we will work together in a 1 on 1 context, I’ll use an intake form to gather more information about you to better serve you in your practice.

  • What styles of yoga are available to choose from for private sessions?

I teach yin, vinyasa, Katonah, restorative and a mix of any of these to create the experience you’d like. Depending on your group’s experience level, we can make it a beginner friendly, open level or intermediate skill level.

  • What is Yin yoga?

Yin - This is a feminine practice in that it’s cooling and slow. The holds can be anywhere from 1 minute to 10 mins. We target the connective tissue rather that muscles. I use the framework of Chinese medicine theory.

  • What is Katonah Yoga®?

Katonah Yoga® is a set of practices and metaphors that draws from sacred geometry, Chinese Medicine Theory, daoism and Hatha yoga.
